Digital Maturity Model in Industry 4.0

Who would fail the digital maturity test?

On May 18 Dr. Gábor Nick (EPIC InnoLabs Kft, SZTAKI EMI Laboratory) and Thomas Scheuer (Fraunhofer IPT) held an online presentation that was attended by German and Hungarian company executives and experts in the field, representing a number of sectors.

We are living in an age of digitalisation in which the digital transformation of industry is ongoing. In our rapidly changing world, companies are affected by countless technical, economic and social trends. Everyone wants to respond best to these, given that reaping the benefits of the Industry 4.0 paradigm is a key issue for corporate competitiveness.

More and more people are looking for a way to assess the digital maturity of industrial companies, that is, their readiness for the fourth industrial revolution.

In their presentation, acatech (Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften), the IPT Institute of the Fraunhofer Research Network and the RWTH University of Aachen presented a detailed matriculation model, but most importantly its use in detail for companies. We know the model well, we have a lot of experience in its application, considering that its staff has taken an active role in its creation and application throughout Europe.

The speakers individually and collectively note several publications and industrial projects on Industry 4.0 graduation models and their utilization.
